Treatment with own fat
Natural volume and elasticity, restored by the rejuvenating power of fat cells
Treatment with own fat (autologous fat) makes it possible to permanently and naturally compensate for signs of aging on the face caused by the loss of volume and elasticity in the tissue.
As we age, our tissue and skin change. This natural process can be exacerbated by unfavorable living conditions and habits such as nicotine consumption, stress, lack of sleep, and unhealthy eating habits. This results in a progressive loss of youthful fullness and elasticity of the tissue: sunken cheeks, temples, and nasolabial folds, as well as increased tear troughs, make the face appear tired and worn out.
By injecting autologous fat (known as lipotransfer), in which a small amount of fat is removed from a suitable area of the body such as the abdomen or thighs using liposuction, the missing volume can be restored and such signs of aging can be effectively and permanently reduced. One key advantage of autologous fat injection is that it uses the body’s own tissue – with 50 to 70 percent typically remaining in place as living, long-lasting volume. The treatment results are permanent. The treatment can safely be repeated, if necessary.

Make an appointment nowWho is autologous fat transfer suitable for?
Autologous fat transfer is particularly suitable for you if you want to restore a youthful, natural fullness to your facial contours. You will benefit from this low-risk treatment, which uses only your own body’s material. In addition, there are a number of other positive effects of autologous fat transfer.
The following concerns can be addressed:
- Volume loss in the temples, cheeks, cheekbone region, nasolabial folds, and tear troughs
- Wrinkles around the eyes and dark circles under the eyes
- Wrinkles around the mouth (smoker’s lines)
- Scars, scalds, and burns
How does treatment with autologous fat work?
The principle was developed by plastic surgeon Sydney Coleman back in 1986. Fat tissue is removed without scarring from a suitable area of the body, e.g., the abdomen, hips, or thighs, using liposuction and then sterilized.
The removed fat tissue is rich in stem cells and natural growth factors, which are transplanted with the living fat cells and can unfold their tissue-improving effect on the spot. The removed fat is then injected into the desired area, such as the cheeks, using fine cannulas. The transplantation of autologous fat is tailored to your individual needs and performed under local anesthesia, twilight sleep, or, if desired, general anesthesia.
After the treatment, tissue swelling and minor bruising occur. These usually subside within 14 days.
What are the advantages of autologous fat treatment?
Autologous fat can be used in many ways to build volume and correct scars. The advantage over hyaluronic acid or other fillers is that the majority of autologous fat (between 50 and 70 percent) is not broken down by the body, leading to long-lasting and very natural results.
Autologous fat is a completely natural substance that comes from your own body. Rejection reactions are therefore virtually impossible when the procedure is performed correctly. Using different preparation methods, we are able to process autologous fat into different particle sizes. This makes it possible to improve even very fine and superficial skin structures such as wrinkles.
What are the possible complications?
In the hands of a qualified plastic and aesthetic surgeon, treatment with autologous fat is very safe and has been an established and well-researched procedure for many years. Swelling and slight bruising after treatment are normal reactions to the procedure and disappear within a short time. We would be happy to advise you personally at our private clinic in Duesseldorf and discuss the method in detail, including all the advantages and disadvantages.
How long do the results of autologous fat injection last?
The results achieved with lipotransfer are permanent. Living fat cells are transplanted and grow in the tissue into which they are introduced. The extent of the volume gain is limited only by the proportion of fat cells that do not grow. As a rule, a survival rate of 50 to 70 percent of fat cells can be assumed.
Can the treatment be combined with other methods or can autologous fat injections be repeated?
Facial rejuvenation using autologous fat transfer can be combined excellently with other procedures such as a facelift, neck lift, or upper and lower eyelid lifts. Lipotransfer can also be repeated without difficulty, even multiple times if desired.
How much does autologous fat injection for facial rejuvenation cost?
The cost of treatment can vary depending on the extent of the procedure and the type of anesthesia used. As a guideline, you should expect to pay a price starting at € 1,800. We would be happy to advise you in detail in a one-on-one consultation, during which we will draw up the ideal treatment plan for you.
