Make an appointment nowWhat is Lumecca?
Lumecca is an innovative procedure for treating vascular or pigmented lesions using photothermolysis. Thanks to the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL), a significant improvement in complexion can be seen after just one treatment.
IPL technology can be used for a variety of skin rejuvenation procedures. It can be used to treat facial pigmentation disorders, superficial vascular lesions, damage to the skin structure, and/or light damage.
Which areas/skin changes can be treated?
Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. Areas frequently exposed to sunlight are particularly common areas of application. These include the face, neckline, neck, legs, hands, and arms.
Age spots, vascular lesions, rosacea, freckles, and sun damage are among the conditions that are well suited for treatment with IPL.
What should be considered before treatment?
Excessive sun exposure or tanning should be avoided for one month prior to treatment.
Are multiple treatments necessary?
An improvement in skin appearance can be achieved after just one treatment. However, several treatments usually lead to even better results. An individual treatment plan is created, which depends on factors such as the severity of the skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (blood vessels or sun damage), and energy settings.
What can I expect during a Lumecca treatment?
Lumecca is an effective procedure for treating vascular and pigmented lesions. The procedure is painless thanks to the strong sapphire cooling tip. The treatment feels like a slight pressure pulse. During the treatment, the light pulse may be perceived as a bright red flash.
After the treatment, redness and slight warming of the skin may occur. This usually subsides within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours, the pigmentation may darken. Within the following week, pigmented lesions will disappear without leaving any skin discoloration.
After treatment of vascular lesions, these may initially fade or a color change may be noticed. After a few days, the treated vessels are no longer visible.
After treating sun-damaged skin, improvement is usually noticeable within a few days. Clearly visible results can be expected after approximately 1–2 weeks.
Are there any side effects of the treatment?
Lumecca is a safe procedure and most patients experience no side effects after treatment. Any skin reactions that may occur usually disappear within a few hours. Occasionally, temporary sensitivity to sunlight may occur.
What should be considered after treatment?
Direct sunlight and tanning should be avoided. SPF 50 is recommended for 4 weeks after treatment for areas exposed to sunlight. After this time, a sufficiently high SPF should continue to be used to maintain the success of the treatment.
Superior IPL technology for efficient skin treatments
Thanks to a special xenon flash lamp, Lumecca offers significant advantages over other standard IPL procedures. In the 500–600 nm range (high absorption by hemoglobin and melanin), 40% of its total pulse energy is emitted. Comparable procedures deliver only 10–15% of the total pulse energy in this range. Lumecca offers high efficiency for vascular and pigmented lesions thanks to its high peak power (3300 W). Furthermore, the large treatment spot and high pulse repetition significantly reduce the treatment time. These characteristics and the high effectiveness of the procedure mean that significantly fewer sessions are required compared to other procedures.
