Breast augmentation
For a naturally beautiful neckline and a new body awareness
Many women want fuller, more harmonious breasts – whether after pregnancy, weight loss or simply out of a desire to feel more comfortable in their body. A breast augmentation at our plastic and aesthetic surgery clinic in Duesseldorf’s Medienhafen can help you achieve exactly this feeling of well-being.
We perform breast augmentation (medical term: mamma augmentation) using high-quality, safe silicone implants – alternatively with autologous fat (your own body fat) or as a combination of both procedures. This combination is called hybrid breast augmentation. We jointly agree upon the shape and size of the implants with you – individually tailored to your figure and your wishes.
We work with the particularly gentle “minimal scar” technique, in which the access is only 2.5 to 4 centimeters (0.98 to 1.57 inches).
Especially helpful in the decision-making process: You can get a realistic picture in advance as we simulate the possible result with the help of state-of-the art 3D simulation and simulation bras in a personal consultation.

Make an appointment nowHow does breast augmentation work and how long does the operation take?
Breast augmentation usually takes about an hour and is performed under general anesthesia. Afterwards, you will stay in our private clinic overnight for monitoring.
We perform the particularly gentle “minimal scar” technique: the implant is inserted through a small incision of just 2.5 to 4 cm (0.98 to 1.57 inches) in the crease under the breast. This fine scar usually heals inconspicuously in the shape of a line.
The wound is sutured with a self-dissolving suture and protected with a special water-resistant plaster. Thus, there is no need to remove sutures or change dressings regularly. Immediately after the operation, you will be provided with a support bra and, if necessary, a chest strap.
Thanks to our modern surgical technique, the use of wound drains is generally not necessary. Shortly after the operation, you will be able to shower carefully and move about normally. Upon discharge of our private clinic, you will be provided with all the necessary medication as well as an appointment for your first follow-up examination.
Do breast implants need to be replaced?
Routine replacement of breast implants is generally not necessary. As long as there is no discomfort and you are satisfied with the result, the implants can permanently remain in your body.
Whether and when a replacement is necessary depends on various factors – for example, individual changes, the age of the implants or personal wishes. A purely “precautionary” change without a medical reason is no longer recommended today, unless complications occur.
Which implants do we use?
Choosing the right breast implant is crucial for an aesthetically harmonious and natural result. At our clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Duesseldorf, we offer two high-quality implant types that have proven their merits time and time again: Motiva breast implants and Polytech B-Lite.
Motiva: For a natural fit and high wearing comfort
Motiva implants belong to the latest generation of breast implants. Thanks to their special gel structure, they adapt dynamically to your posture and movements: When lying down, they appear round; when standing up, they take on a teardrop-shaped, anatomical form – just like natural breast tissue. We cater to your specific needs with a variety between
- Motiva Round – ideal for a fuller Neckline
- Ergonomix – for a natural look and feel that adapts to body movement and
- Ergonomix2 implants – with a particularly soft, supple shape and minimally invasive methods.
The Ergonomix2 implants, a further development of this system, offer additional comfort and safety – including the Motiva Q-Chip, Blue Seal+ technology and lifelong benefits as part of the Motiva Joy programme.
Our clinic is one of the few centers in Germany that has tested these innovative implants as part of an FDA approval study. You will benefit from this exceptional expertise in your individual consultation.

Polytech B-Lite – Lightweight implants for an active lifestyle
B-Lite breast implants are characterized by a significant weight reduction of approx. 30 % compared to conventional implants. This new, highly developed filling material has been specially developed for a lighter weight while retaining the same dimensional stability.
These implants are particularly suitable for patients who want a larger breast volume with as little strain on the tissue as possible – for example during exercise or after pregnancy and weight changes. The special structure of the implant shell enables stable anchoring in the tissue – even with weaker connective tissue.

Which breast implant placement options do we offer for breast augmentation?
Depending on the initial physical situation, tissue quality and desired result, we insert implants using three established methods. Together with you, we will select the best option for you during your personal consultation:
1. Implant under the large pectoral muscle with internal support
With this method, the implant is placed behind the pectoralis major muscle. The upper part of the implant is therefore covered by the muscle, while the lower part lies under the mammary gland.
This technique is particularly useful for very slim patients with little of their own tissue or for medium-sized to large implants. The so-called “inner muscle support” ensures the particularly stable and harmonious positioning.
2. Subfascial placement – for athletic patients with sufficient tissue
In this case, the implant is not placed behind the pectoral muscle but on top of it, directly under the fascia (muscle skin). This very firm layer of tissue provides additional stability without having to cut through the muscle.
This method is particularly suitable for athletic women with enough of their own tissue who aim for a reduced healing time and want to get back to their daily activities quickly.
3. hybrid procedure: Breast augmentation with implant and autologous fat (= own body fat)
In the so-called hybrid procedure, we combine a classic silicone implant with an autologous fat transplant. This involves harvesting the body’s own fat cells through liposuction and then transferring them tightly focused into the breast tissue.
The result is particularly natural and soft to the touch, as the implant is additionally surrounded by the body’s own tissue. This method is ideal for athletic patients who want a discreet, very natural-looking breast augmentation.
As a rule, you can go back to work after about a week. You can slowly resume doing exercise after about four weeks.

What should I consider before breast surgery?
For a safe operation, it is important that you feel physically fit and do not suffer from any acute illnesses. Please refrain from smoking and taking blood-thinning medication such as Aspirin® for at least 10 days before the operation, as these can increase the risk of bleeding.
We will be happy to advise you individually about all medically relevant preparations during your personal consultation.
What are the risks of breast augmentation?
Like any surgical procedure, breast augmentation, too, is associated with risks. Our specialists will inform you individually and in detail about possible complications in a personal consultation at our private clinic in Duesseldorf.
Thanks to modern surgical techniques and high-quality implant materials, many risks can now be significantly reduced. You can be sure that we offer you the greatest possible safety in accordance with current international medical standards.

Does an implant impair the function of the breast?
If you want to breastfeed later, you can rest assured: breast augmentation with implants generally does neither affect the ability to breastfeed nor the function of the breast.
Screening examinations such as mammograms are also possible without any restrictions – of course you should have these carried out regularly according to your gynecologist’s recommendations.
What is the post treatment after breast augmentation?
- After the operation, during which we will not apply irritating wound drainage, you will initially wear a special compression bra and, if necessary, a chest strap – these help to stabilize the implant and relieve the strain on the tissue.
- We recommend sleeping on your back or side for the first few nights. Showering is permitted. The short incision of only 2.5 to 4 cm (0.98 to 1.57 inches) is closed with self-dissolving sutures and protected with a special film dressing that does not need to be changed for two weeks – thus you are spared the inconvenience of having to change dressings regularly.
- A feeling of tension or sore muscles in the chest is completely normal in the first few days after the operation. If necessary, mild painkillers can help you to relax and make the healing process more comfortable.
- Scar care is an important part of aftercare, too: the scar may be reddened at first, but usually fades well and is barely visible later on. In our article on scar care (LINK NARBENPFLEGE?) you can find out our recommendations on what to pay particular attention to.
- As after any surgical procedure, your body needs time to recover. After breast augmentation, you should refrain from working for about ten days and take it easy physically for about six weeks – e.g., refrain from sport, sauna or swimming.
How much does a breast augmentation cost - and what financing options are available?
The exact cost of a breast augmentation always depends on individual factors such as the chosen method, the type of implant and your personal wishes. We will discuss which treatment is best suited to you in your personal consultation. On this basis, our specialists will prepare a transparent and individual offer for you.
If required, we will also be happy to inform you about financing options so that you can arrange your treatment flexibly. Please feel free to get in touch with us.
