Bichectomy
A slim face through removal of the cheek fat pads
Many people consider a slim, V-shaped face to be ideal. Full cheeks, or “chubby cheeks,” are usually only considered attractive in small children. In this case, surgical removal of the so-called Bichat fat pads can slim down a round face and permanently accentuate the cheekbones.

Make an appointment nowWhat is the procedure for buccal fat removal?
No hospital stay is necessary for this procedure. We perform buccal fat removal at our clinic under local anesthesia with twilight sedation.
During the procedure, the cheek fat pads are removed through a small incision in the oral cavity, giving the face a new, slimmer contour without any visible external scars. The small incisions in the cheek mucosa are sutured with a fine, self-dissolving thread, which does not need to be removed.
You should be able to return to work no later than one to two weeks after your cheek fat pad removal. We would be happy to advise you on the topic of buccal fat removal during a one-on-one consultation at our private clinic in Duesseldorf.
Are there any risks associated with cheek fat removal, or can complications arise?
Complications are rare with this procedure. However, swelling in the cheek area can occur from time to time and may last for several weeks. Noticeable bruising in the cheek area is rare. All side effects are temporary and usually disappear on their own.
We will be happy to provide you with further information during an one-on-one consultation.
Can this procedure be combined with other treatments?
Bichectomy can be combined well with eyelid surgery or minimally invasive wrinkle treatment, for example. Please feel free to contact us for more information and benefit from our expertise.
How much does a bichectomy cost?
The cost of buccal fat removal is approximately € 2,500. However, an exact cost estimate is only possible after a detailed consultation with our specialists.
How long is the healing time after a bichectomy?
You should allow one to two weeks for the healing process, but in some cases it may take a little longer. Especially in the first few days after the surgery, you should get plenty of rest and avoid physical exertion. It is helpful to keep your head elevated and cool your cheek.
After meals, you should rinse your mouth and avoid dairy products as much as possible during the first few days after the procedure.
How long should you refrain from sporting activities after a buccal fat removal?
In any case, you should refrain from any sporting activities for the first two weeks after cheek fat removal.
How long does a buccal fat removal take?
The surgery to remove cheek fat takes about 1 hour.
Are the effects of a buccal fat removal permanent?
Since the removed cheek fat pad does not grow back, the achieved contour improvement is permanent.
We will answer your questions in detail during a non-binding initial consultation.
